About
Welcome to Le Pain Quotidien - 861 Lexington Ave, a delightful corner of culinary bliss nestled in the heart of the Upper East Side, New York City. A place where rustic charm meets modern comfort, Le Pain Quotidien, often shortened to LPQ, is much more than just a bakery or café; it’s an experience defined by quality food and community ambiance.
As you step inside, you are greeted by an inviting atmosphere — the rustic wooden tables, soft golden lighting, and a gentle hum of conversation create an ideal setting for enjoying a meal. The essence of LPQ is to foster a communal dining experience, and this location truly excels in that regard. Whether you are settling in for a leisurely breakfast, a casual lunch, or a quick coffee break, the friendly staff will swiftly make you feel at home.
On a culinary note, LPQ's offerings are exceptional. Recent patrons rave about the French cream donuts that beckon with their glossy allure, appealing enough to draw you in from outside. A chocolate muffin paired with a medium coffee, as mentioned by customer Rich H, is a go-to combo for many. The flavor palette extends far beyond pastries — Shukhrat Maks shared a delightful experience with the chicken sandwich, remarking on the attentive service and the delicious meal. Indeed, the quality of the food is consistently highlighted in reviews, making it a reliable choice whatever time of day you visit.
But let’s not overlook the highlight: the alluring crookie. This unique blend of a croissant and cookie is a must-try. Katherine Ng’s description is nothing short of poetic — it captures the crookie’s flaky, buttery goodness perfectly. As she notes, it manages to be indulgent without overwhelming, providing that sweet satisfaction that lingers pleasantly without regret. Enjoying one of these is not just about the taste — it's an escape into a moment of pure joy.
Overall, LPQ at 861 Lexington Ave isn’t just about quick bites; it’s about creating memories around the table. The ambiance, combined with delicious offerings and top-notch service, make it a go-to venue for anyone in the area. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, taking a moment to savor a meal here will undoubtedly enrich your day. Don't just take our word for it; visit, indulge, and relish this charming culinary escape.

“ This has to be one of the most friendly and welcoming le pain in all Manhattan. The service was excellent and they really looked after us. I was served by Fanta, she’s very exceptional, perfect at her job, food was really good and served our dishes super fast ”
“ I’ve been quietly (okay, not that quietly) chasing down the elusive crookie—that gloriously unhinged hybrid of croissant and cookie—like it’s the final Horcrux of dessert. So when I heard Le Pain Quotidien on the Upper East Side was serving them, I made my way there with the determination of someone who knows full well what butter therapy can do for the soul. Let me be clear: this is not a gimmick. The crookie at LPQ is the real deal—sweet, flaky, rich, and deeply satisfying. Imagine if a croissant and a chocolate chip cookie met at a Parisian cafe, flirted shamelessly, and had a perfectly portioned, golden child. That’s this pastry. What I appreciated most—beyond the sheer joy of eating it—was the size. Unlike some versions that are full croissant-sized sugar juggernauts, LPQ’s crookie is just slightly smaller, which feels both manageable and merciful. It’s still decadent, still buttery, still indulgent—but without the post-dessert existential crisis. Just enough to make you close your eyes and go mmm, not enough to make you text your doctor. The cafe itself is charming in that classic LPQ way: rustic tables, soft lighting, and the faint sense that you should be journaling about your day over a tartine. But let’s be honest—you’re here for the crookie. And you should be. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Especially if you’re on the Upper East Side, craving something that says pastry, but make it unreasonably delightful. Go. Get the crookie. Thank yourself later. ”

“ Excellent place for a quick bite, a snack or a full meal. Menu seems small but there are lots of options for everyone, kids, vegans, vegetarians or regular diet. We tried a variety of options, and everything tasted great! Food quality, temperature and presentation are above standards. I’d say this place is perfect for anyone wanting to have a relaxed meal. There is a lack of electric outlets, just FYI. Place seems quiet and there are plenty of seating available. ”
